Supervision for Psychologists

Astrid is a board-approved supervisor and can provide supervision to provisional psychologists in the 4+2 and 5+1 programs and to students on placement as part of a postgraduate degree in psychology. Astrid can provide supervision for a range of mental health conditions and has a special interest in eating disorders.

Supervision plays a crucial role in guiding and mentoring provisional psychologists, ensuring they are well-prepared to provide effective and ethical care to their future clients. Supervisors:

  • ensure that supervisees develop the necessary clinical skills, ethical understanding and professional judgment required for independent practice.

  • provide regular feedback on cases, help assess the supervisee’s clinical abilities

  • provide support through challenging situations

  • are responsible for ensuring that all activities align with the standards and regulations set by the licensing board

Supervision is also vital for experienced psychologists, as it offers a valuable opportunity for professional growth and reflection even after years of practice. For seasoned professionals, supervision provides a space to discuss complex cases, receive feedback on their clinical approaches, and process any challenging or emotionally taxing situations. It allows for the continued development of therapeutic techniques, encourages self-awareness, and helps prevent burnout by promoting ongoing learning and professional resilience.

Supervision is priced at $220/hour plus GST.
