Supervision for Psychologists
Astrid is a board-approved supervisor and can provide supervision to provisional psychologists in the 4+2 and 5+1 programs and to students on placement as part of a postgraduate degree in psychology. Astrid can provide supervision for a range of mental health conditions and has a special interest in eating disorders.
Supervision plays a crucial role in guiding and mentoring provisional psychologists, ensuring they are well-prepared to provide effective and ethical care to their future clients. Supervisors:
ensure that supervisees develop the necessary clinical skills, ethical understanding and professional judgment required for independent practice.
provide regular feedback on cases, help assess the supervisee’s clinical abilities
provide support through challenging situations
are responsible for ensuring that all activities align with the standards and regulations set by the licensing board
Supervision is also vital for experienced psychologists, as it offers a valuable opportunity for professional growth and reflection even after years of practice. For seasoned professionals, supervision provides a space to discuss complex cases, receive feedback on their clinical approaches, and process any challenging or emotionally taxing situations. It allows for the continued development of therapeutic techniques, encourages self-awareness, and helps prevent burnout by promoting ongoing learning and professional resilience.
Supervision is priced at $220/hour plus GST.
